Driver – Class 3 (temporary)

Dawson Co-op invites applications for the position of Driver – Class 3 (temporary) to join our team at our Home and Agro Centre located in Dawson Creek, British Columbia.

Reporting to the Home Centre Manager and the Operations Manager, this position is primarily responsible for completing in and out of town deliveries, and for providing information, assistance and service to customers within the Home and Agro Centre Yard department.

Responsibilities for this position include the following:

  • Come to work with a positive and professional approach and attitude
  • Be dependable for all scheduled shifts
  • Ensure an exceptional level of service is provided and staff attitude is appropriate
  • Pick up and deliver product to customers in a safe, timely and professional manner
  • Operate all equipment and tools in a safe and responsible manner
  • Perform general delivery vehicle maintenance
  • Maintain service records
  • Keep accurate and timely driver reports
  • Perform general duties and housekeeping duties in the yard and shop area, such as sweeping and shovelling snow
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Assist customers to lift, load and unload their materials
  • Work to understand order details, and able to search for and find information to assist customers
  • Contribute to a team environment
  • Actively provide feedback on ways to improve day-to-day tasks and processes
  • Adhere to and enforce all Dawson Co-operative Union policies and procedures
  • Adhere to and enforce all Dawson Co-operative Union health and safety standards, per the Health and Safety manual
  • Plan for self-development and take initiative to improve own knowledge, skills and abilities
  • Motivated self-starter
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Valid Class 3 driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract
  • Ability to maintain positive relationships at all levels
  • One to three years of related experience
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly
  • Mechanically inclined to perform general delivery vehicle maintenance
  • Experience operating a Moffett and/or forklift is considered an asset
  • Motivated self-starter, with a positive and results oriented attitude
  • Ability to take direction and work from established schedules and task lists
  • Customer service oriented
  • Local area knowledge
  • Must complete a fitness for work self-assessment

Compensation and Benefits

  • Between $21.05 per hour and $31.58/hour commensurate on qualifications and experience
